Dr. Serge Haroche is a professor of the Ecole Normale Superieure and
hold the Chair of Quantum Physics at the College de France. He is a
world
class expert on quantum physics and is recognized with several major
honors, including the“Grand Prix de Physique Jean Ricard” and “Einstein
Prize for Laser Science”. He leads very active and renowned
research groups on quantum optics and on quantum information
processing.
During his stay, Dr. Serge Haroche will deliver multiple talks on
various levels, including
- A public
colloquium talk (10/2/2007) on ''Counting Photons without
Destroying Them: An Ideal Measurement of Light''. (See formal poster.) A reception
will follow the talk from 5:15 pm to 6:00 pm at KPTC 206.
- Two undergraduate lectures (10/3 and 10/10) on atom-photon
interactions in Physics 154 "Modern Physics".
- Two Seminar talks (I)
(10/8) and (II)
(10/9) on "Exploring the
quantum dynamics of atoms and
photons in cavities".
Details of his
schedule is here.
